Danielle + Shaun - Gimli Engagement Shoot

Danielle + Shaun - Gimli Engagement Shoot

We found ourselves at some not so typical locations in Gimli for Danielle and Shauns engagment shoot. Places I've never come across before even though i've been out to Gimli more times than I can remember.

Danielle and Shaun met out in Gimli so it was more than suiting to get back out there for their shoot. Added bonus for us was that we got to stop off at our fav little restaurant Brennivins Pizza Hus afterwards for some delcious Ravioli bites! :)

While there was a beautiful sunset happening, it was pretty much behind us and we weren't in the greatest spot to capture it. However, shooting the opposite direction of the sunset can be crazy beautiful in its own way, the soft colors of the sky on the water made my eye's happy! So tip to others out there, don't always look for the sunset, check out the opposite side of the sky to shoot with too.

Enjoy.

Ainsley + Ian - Gimli, Manitoba Wedding

Ainsley and Ian got married out in Gimli, Mb. It was a gorgeous sunny Saturday (while it was a cloudy rainy one in the city!)
Working alongside me was our friend and fellow photographer Josh Lavalee.

We got a pretty amazing first look location - at the Gimli airport, right by the old DC 3 airplane that lives on the runway.  Such a unique first look spot! With Ian being in the aviation industry, it made sense to do some of their first photos on the runway and around the other planes and buildings there.

Gimli is situated along lake Manitoba, so it was fitting we head off to a pier for some group shots, then to the private beach for the ceremony.
The ceremony was filled with close family and friends, Ian was led down the isle with traditional bag pipes playing, and a friend of the couples playing the ukulele and singing as Ainsley walked down the isle. The flower girl and ring bearer stole the show as they held hands and hugged during the ceremony, it was so adorable!

Shooting out in Gimli was both good and bad for me, good because it was beautiful, and i had a great time, but bad because now all I want to do is shoot beach weddings! :)

Congrats to Ainsley and Ian on their wedding day!

Kylie + Kevin - Steinbach Wedding

We ventured out to Steinbach, Mb for Kylie and kevin's wedding. Going any place new is exciting for us. Not having photographed in Steinbach before, we weren't really sure what to expect. But we were pleasently surprised, and are still raving about how beautiful a few of the locations were.

Their first look with each other happened at a friends back yard. This yard was beautifully landscaped with gorgeous trees that framed the area perfectly. We didn't want to stop shooting there! Then we went off to an old rustic house. It was like time had stopped in there. So beautiful, the dried flowers and the accent rug in the main room were just the icing to the cake! Not to mention the love and romance felt between the new Mr and Mrs. It was as if they were all alone when their pictures were being taken, and just melted into each other.

The venue was decorated beautifully, you could tell a lot of thought and care was put into each and ever detail.

Narrowing down pictures is always a hard one for us, but we managed to get it down to just a few....Take a look at this gorgeous couple, their good looking wedding party, and beautiful decor - you wont regret it! :)

Congrats again to Kyle and Kevin!

Steph + Rick - Pine Ridge Hollow Wedding

Steph and Rick were married on a gorgeous warm summer day back in early July. They had their first look on a boulevard in the middle of Wellington Cres, which literally stopped traffic. I would have to say that first looks are easily my favorite moments of the entire wedding day. Getting to see the pure happy emotion from both the bride and groom really makes our hearts swell, and reconfirms why we do what we do.

After their few moments alone together, we hopped on over the King's head for a few drinks, and some pics, eventually making our way around the exchange, and then out to Pine Ridge Hollow for the ceremony and reception.

The entire day was filled with laughs and good times, especially the speeches - I don't think there was a dry eye in the entire place, from both laughter and the sentimental stories shared.

Pine Ridge was decorated beautifully, as usual, and the day flowed on seamlessly.
Sneaking the bride and groom off for some final photos before we head out for the evening is one of our best suggestions for our couples. It gives us one last chance to capture a few photos in some different lighting, and it gives the new Mr and Mrs a moment or two out of the hustle and bustle of the wedding day.

Congrats to Steph and Rick, it was an honor to have spent the day with you guys, thanks for the laughs!

Kyla + Trevor - Clear Water Bay & Minaki Engagement Shoot

Not even sure where to start with this one. Im writing this before i've even had a chance to edit the photos (which now at the time of posting this has been done a long time ago).

Kyla & Trevor wanted to do their engagement shoot at both of their family cabins and they're very special places for the two of them. Obviously we're always happy to head out to Lake of the woods and shoot some photos!

We ran into Kyla the night before at another wedding we were shooting and she was on the fence about cancelling the shoot as the weather outlook wasn't looking too great for the next day. We agree'd to see how it looked the next morning. Morning came around and it was still looking to be rainy, we agree'd we would reschedule.... however a few minutes later we got an email from Trevor saying that they wanted to go for it!

Turns out he made a good call on that one as the evening turned out absolutely perfect!

Not gonna lie, we took some beautiful photo's with Kyla and Trevor, and had one heck on an awesome time while I was at it!

Now for my more personal part of this adventure.

When I arrived at Kyla's cabin at Clear Water Bay, I was greeted by Kyla, Trevor, her Parents and her Aunt, all of whom were so kind and welcoming, offering me food, drinks, etc. Had some chit chat and they really made me feel like I was at home.

We made our way out to Trevor's cabin in Minaki. Yet again, I was welcomed right in, everyone was super friendly, food and drinks offered (I may have accepted a drink) We were going to get right into shooting, however thought it would be best to take a few minutes and relax on the deck by the lake and wait for the sun to dip a bit lower in the sky. We had some good convo's and I soaked up as much of the peacefulness of the lake as I could.

Trevors dad had made mention that he was a physiotherapist, and me being as busy as i've been lately had been putting off making a physio appointment as i've been having some troubles with my leg. So I asked if he could fix me up! haha.
He didn't hesitate and offered to have a look when I was done shooting.

Finished up the shoot and he's got his table setup on the deck and ready to see whats wrong with my leg! So there I am, getting checked out with the lake right there, a beautiful sunset, and being helped out by someone i've never met before.

After collecting my gear and heading back up to the cabin to say bye and make my way home I am handed a thank you card and gift from Kyla and Trevor (totally unexpected, but super awesome) and then handed a plate of food for my drive home from his parents (which might I add was super delicious)

I spent my drive home really processing the evening I just experienced. I got a message from Kyla and Trevor thanking me for coming out there, but really I feel like the one that should be thanking them. We are always super grateful to each and every couple that has us shoot these memories for them, but sometimes there is experiences like this one that really get you in the feels and give you a whole new appreciation for what we do. I woke up today feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world. So thank you Kyla, Trevor and both of your families for treating me so good, thank you for having me out there to capture this special time in your life. Im truly humbled and honored to be working with all of you.

Camp Wannaknowmore 2016

We're back at it! We are hosting the 2nd Camp Wannaknowmore Wedding Photography workshop again this September 25-27!

Last year we had an amazing time, made some new friends, had some great chats and laughs around the fire, and learned a whole bunch of great things from Jake and Mel.

This year we've got some great ideas to make Camp Wannaknowmore even better for all those attending, you'll have to register and show up to Camp to see whats new!

We've got two absolutely amazing photographers to teach and inspire.
Monique Pantel from Pantel Photo and Michael Carriere from Modern Pixel Photography will be presenting, teaching, inspiring, etc. These two are amazing people, extremely talented at what they do, and are really really excited to be part of Camp!

We've also got the always wonderful Britney Fache from Fache Floral Designs with us again to help style the shoots with her beautiful work!

Thunderbird Bungalows will be providing accommodations for everyone attending, which means you'll get your own cute little cabin to yourself (unless you want to share with someone).

We also provide meals and drinks for the two days (you'll want to bring your own "social" beverages though)

We've got a few surprises in store for all attending this year!

SmartAlbums, Tribe Red Leaf, Lakehouse, Bliss Bridal, High Tea Bakery have all joined up with us to make this a truly awesome event!

Hillary + Mark - Pine Ridge Hollow Wedding

Hillary and Mark celebrated their beautiful wedding wedding out at Pine Ridge Hollow. The day was perfect, beautiful weather, beautiful venue, and a great wedding party.

Hillary looked amazing in her Maggie Sottero dress! Mark kept things stylish in his Vera Wang Tux.

We left the wedding with them and went to visit their Grandma in the hospital so they could have some wedding photo's with her. When leaving there the sun was setting quite nicely so we finished off with a gorgeous sunset shoot.

Congrats and thanks for having us capture your day!!

Kaitlyn + Cole - Birds Hill Park Couples Shoot

Kaitlyn and Cole showed up to their shoot at Birds Hill Park full of nerves, they pulled the old "we are super nervous" stunt.  However as usual a minute into their shoot they were in their own world, and it was as if I wasn't even around! Lots of smiles, and laughs, and a bunch of kisses made this shoot perfect!

We don't just like being photographers and capturing couples love for eachother, we really love it! Leaving the shoot I couldn't wait to post a picture on facebook and instagram! So there I was on the side of the highway, they had just drove away and I was posting a shot fresh off the camera!

Hope you enjoy these ones!

Kaitlyn + Ben - Birds Hill Park Engagement

Kaitlyn and Ben wanted to head out to Birds Hill Park for their engagement shoot. To my surprise this was the first time that either of them had been there! I got to shoot in a little spot that i've been wanting to shoot at for quite some time. We had a fun time wandering around the park, having some smiles and laughs. Their wedding is happening in just a couple days from when I'm writing this. Can't wait to get out with the two of them again!

Enjoy!

Nicole + Ryan - Clearwater Bay Engagement Shoot

When we tell our couples that we love getting out of town for their shoots we really mean it. So heading out to Clearwater Bay, Ontario was a real treat for us!

Nicole and Ryan brought their boat out and we cruised around beautiful Lake Of The Woods. We found some breathtaking places to shoot at, some of which took a little skill at rock climbing to get to but we all toughed it out, as well as battled the bugs and fly's that swarmed us!

We love adventures, and couples that are down to get out and do what it takes to get some beautiful photo's. This is just a small sampling of what we captured, hope you enjoy these as much as we do.
