Anastasia + Scott - Manitoba Club Wedding

It was a pretty darn chilly February day in Winnipeg when Anastasia and Scott got married, we started it off in the warm comforts of Aspire pro studio’s. The guys kept things extra warm with a few sips of some fancy scotch that Scott waited in line for that morning (One of the groomsmen may have regrettably drank it like it was a shot.)

When Anastasia and her bridesmaids showed up we kicked things off with a sweet first look between her and Scott. From there we had lots of laughs, a few donuts (Thanks to Oh Donuts) and a bunch of good fun!

We made our way to the Manitoba Club for some more indoor photo’s and a few outside in the cold as well. We timed it pretty perfectly with the sun just peeking through the buildings before it was gone for the night. A beautiful ceremony, a fun cocktail hour and a crazy good time at the reception finished off the night. The Manitoba Club and their staff we amazing as always!

These two and all of their friends and family we’re nothing but a great fun time! It was such a blast spending these special moments with them.

Enjoy!

Allison + Brad - Birdshill Park Engagement Shoot

Oh boy! Talk about a fun time. Allison and Brad brought the fire for this shoot, literally…

We spent a bit of time in the cold at Birdshill Park wandering around, finding pretty light, and when we got a bit chilly they started up the fire and busted out the s’more from Folk + Fire, along with a couple of big mugs of Baileys! They rolled in the snow, tossed snow at each and pretty much had just about as much fun as you could have in the snow.

I hope you enjoy checking these out as much as I did taking the photo’s.

We have no shortage of really fun couples that we get to work with. Kelsey and Todd are no exception. Full of big laughs and even bigger smiles these two made the best out of the -30 weather we had on New Years Eve. They had their first look, ceremony and reception at My Church Winnipeg and we spent some time at the Red River College downtown campus as well as outside at The Forks for photo’s.

Once we were back at My Church we warmed up (I think I briefly lost the sense of touch in a few finger tips) they had their ceremony and made the marriage official!

For the reception they had Thom Bargen on hand with some delightful coffee, and some amazing soups and chili with all the fixins’ to warm up your insides.

Enjoy the photo’s below!

Shayna + Mark Day After Shoot - Grand Sunset Princess Mexico Destination Wedding

Well, the fun wasn’t over after the wedding day. We headed out with Shayna and Mark for a Day After shoot. We started it off with a few fun photo’s of Shayna and her bridesmaids.

The day after shoot gave us a bit more time with the two of them, no rush, no wedding day stress, etc. and we got to head out around sunset. Knowing we’d be out and about for a bit we packed a few drinks from the bar fridge, and a bottle of cheap tequila (like there wasn’t enough of that consumed already).

This shoot was an absolute dream, the conditions were perfect a bit of wind, an amazing sunset, and heck we were in Mexico after all, it could have rained and it would have been fine!

On our walk down the beach we found an old pier with nobody around, so obviously we walked out on to it and snapped some pics. It wasn’t long until a security guard starting telling us to leave. So ff we went to another one not far away. This time there was already a security guard there waiting to stop us. He was successful in doing so until I happened to slip him a $20 bill… then it seemed to be ok to shoot there. Odd.

After having plenty of fun shooting, getting our shoes soaked, dress wet and full of sand we made our way back, but not before that cheap bottle of tequila made its appearance and was slightly consumed.

This trip was all kinds of fun for us. Amanda and I had a chance to work together (I really do love working with her, she see’s things I don’t or see's them in a different way than I do, which makes for a great mix of photo’s in the end.) We got to meet all kinds of new friends, enjoy some time on the beach and by the poolside. I can’t wait until the next time!

Shayna + Mark - Grand Sunset Princess Mexico Destination Wedding

Back in November we made our way to the airport to hop on a plane with 80+ friends and family of Shayna and Mark and head to Mexico. If the flight was to be indication of what the next 7 days had in store for us, we were in for a fantastic time.

I got to sit next to Mark’s dad on the plane, and we spent some good time chatting and sharing stories and laughs.

Over the week we were out there we shared a lot of stories, and laughs, a bit of tears, and a whole lot of great times with everyone that was there for the wedding. They made Amanda and myself feel like we were family. Clearly Shayna and Mark have a lot of good people surrounding and supporting them.

We spent our first few days at the Grand Sunset Princess resort hanging out at the pool with everyone grabbing some fun photo’s of the group hanging out, enjoyed a few pina colada’s and other tasty beverages together while we were at it.

When the big day for the wedding came around, there was some rain in the forecast and they had to decide whether or not to move the wedding indoors or take the chance and keep it outside on the beach. They went with the beach option, which turned out for the best as it didn’t rain until the beach party was over at the end of the night.

Getting to know everyone over the few days before the wedding made things a bit more intimate and emotional for us on the day of. We found ourselves fighting back some tears a number of times through the day. I was full on crying with a couple of bridesmaids during Shayna’s dance with a few of the very important men in her life.

Shayna and Marks destination wedding is one that we will always remember. We had one heck of a great time, and made a lot of new friends. I know I could keep writing for a long time about our week out there, from the foam party on the beach, to staying out till 5am by the Sports Bar with everyone, to the crazy fun conversations we had, and how amazing it was to be part of such an amazing moment in the lives of these two wonderful human beings. I am going to let the slideshow and photo’s below do the talking though, hopefully they help you feel a bit of the emotions and feelings that were had on this special day.

We will have a second blog post with their day after session soon, so be on the look out for that too!

The 2018 Review! - Winnipeg Wedding Photographer

The 2018 Review! - Winnipeg Wedding Photographer

Well, we’re getting a couple months into 2019, so this is a bit on the late side, my apologies.

I thought it would be fun to look back at some of 2018’s shoots. These are just couples, engagements and weddings. We also did a ton of family, newborns, maternity, and other shoots that aren’t shown here.

As you’ll see we had a pretty crazy busy year, and wow did we get to meet a lot of amazing people. Worked with some of Winnipegs best wedding vendors, got to shoot at venue’s we haven’t been to before, checked out all kinds of different locations around Manitoba and Ontario for engagements and weddings.

2018 was a year of growth, not just with the amount we shot, but with many other parts of this business. Amanda and Michelle both shot weddings and engagements this year. We’ve all grown in the way we shoot and interact with our couples. Amanda set goals for herself with her newborn photography and went way beyond those goals (Super proud of her!!). We worked with a number of talented photographers that second shot with us on a number of occasions. Its been pretty fantastic!

It was also a year of figuring out how to handle this increased workload at home, and we’re still working on having that healthy balance. We’ve got two kids, two dogs, and we still need to make time for each other. We’re learning that we need to make time for ourselves, for our health, to have fun and enjoy as much time together as we can. I think that will also make us better at our craft at the same time. We did manage to get out camping, fishing, hit the beach, go on adventures and have as much fun as we could with family and friends. This year we are going to try and make even more of that happen.

So what kind of stuff did we get up to this year?
We got to shoot a proposal in Vegas. Shot a wedding in Hawaii (we also stayed out there a bit longer to have a little vacay time), shot another wedding in Iceland (will gladly head out there every year!) and we shot a wedding in Mexico (We may have cried the most at that one).

We also shot one heck of a lot of weddings in and around Winnipeg and Lake of the Woods, Clear Lake, etc. We got to see so many familiar faces from previous weddings as guests or in wedding parties, so that is always fun! Each wedding was so special and unique and made for some really great times for us to work at. We can’t thank everyone enough for having us be part of such special times in their lives.

Engagements and couples shoots… holy smokes did we get out and do a lot of these. Did we ever have some good times while doing them too. From all the good laughs (mostly at my expense), the spectacular locations, and getting to know every one just a little bit better along the way.

2018 was something else! and we’re excited to see what we get up to in 2019. Im going to stop rambling away and let you get to scrolling through all of the photo’s. These are just a small sample of some of our favs from 2018, you’d be scrolling for far too long if we posted them all.

You can also check out the slideshows, they are a bit more fun to watch with the added music!

Enjoy!

Erin + Kyle - Bridges Golf Course Wedding

Erin and Kyle, a couple of super friendly and fun people! I very much enjoyed spending the day with them and their close family and friends out at Bridges Golf Course. We spent some time outside doing their first look, wedding party photo’s and photo’s of just the two of them, some of those photo’s included the two of them showing me their best dance moves (super fun right!!)

The rest of the day was spent inside, with them surrounded by all the people that love them. Great touching speeches, lots of laughs, and donuts… so many delicious donuts. Oh yeah, and then a crazy good time on the dance floor. Im pretty sure I seen a girl catch a random hand in the head, im pretty sure she survived though.

Enough of me chatting about it, scroll down and start looking at the pics or hit play on the slideshow!

Laurin + Brandon - Engagement

Winter, I used to really dislike shooting in the winter… its just so, you know… cold.
My mind has changed over the past year or two though, its fun, and beautiful, and it forces your couples to get closer together to keep warm. Laurin and Brandon were up for walking through the deep snow, getting some booters and just having a great time! They even brought their pup out for some photo’s too! Gotta love those fur babies right! I am looking forward to spending more time with them when its a bit warmer in July for their wedding. :)

Emma + Tom - Iceland Wedding Photographer

Well its no secret that I love Iceland, even Emma and Tom knew I loved it and they live in England!! So happy these two came across our work, and loved it enough to have me cover their amazing wedding day at the Black Church and Hotel Budir. Leading up to the day we’d had skype calls, lots of emails back and forth, and I felt like I knew them already. The day before the wedding my Dad and I spent the day out in the area where i’d be shooting and checked out some great locations. The weather was amazing that day. The next day I headed out bright and early for the nearly 3 hour drive from Reykjavik, the skies were clear and I was excited that the weather was going to be perfect. I should have known better though as Iceland likes to change the weather every 15 minutes. By the time I got out there the clouds were rolling in and it was getting pretty cool.

The ceremony was held in one of the most iconic churches in the world, the Black Church at Budir. Its just a small little place, but its wonderful and had enough room for Emma and Tom and their close family and friends that attended.

After the ceremony I hopped into the car with Will (the videographer) and Emma and Tom followed us in their car.

First stop was at the Arnarstapi Arch, what a super cool spot, kinda frightening walking over it especially with the wild winds out there.

After that it was back in the car and off to Djúpalónssandur Beach, this place was epic! When we first seen it we were like this place is something from Game of Thrones, turns out it was used in the show! We spent a good amount of time shooting around here. Then it started to get real windy and cold, and then a bit of rain joined the party, then not wanting to be left out the snow joined us too! At that point we called it a day and headed back to Hotel Budir to get the reception started.

If you’ve never seen or been to Hotel Budir, its a pretty fantastic place, so much charm and character. Love it there. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and great speeches and some dancing.

All the time while we were in there that storm outside kept getting stronger and stronger. We talked to some staff and they said it was so bad they weren’t going to drive home that night. Well, I jumped in my car, and Will got into his and we followed each other back to Reykjavik. What a white knuckle drive that was. Luckily we both made it back safe and sound.

Emma and Tom, thank you both once again for having me come all the way out there to document this amazing time, and for making me feel like part of the family while with you guys!

Can’t wait for the next chance we get to head out to this magical country!

I’d say from the start when I met up with these two at Forth Coffee in Winnipeg we had a great connection. I knew these two would be fun, relaxed and laid back and we’d make some great memories and photos. We headed out to Pinawa Provincial Park for their engagement photo’s, we got lucky and had a fantastic evening with beautiful light. Im sure you’ll see in the pics that these two had a fantastic time, and lots of good laughs were had. We’ll be heading out to Montana with them in a few weeks to shoot their wedding and hit the ski slopes! Can’t wait for more fun times.
