An evening at the lake is never anything to be upset about. Shana and Dallas invited me out to the family cabin and we spent a bit of time together, enjoying the fire, the warm sun and some of that beautiful sunset. Loads of smiles and laughs from these two beauties. Looking forward to the next time I spend some time with them.
Side note, they also gave me a sweet gift of some new golf balls! bonus points for them! :)
A guide to planning a wedding in Winnipeg, Manitoba and surrounding areas.
We’ve shot hundreds of weddings over the past 10+years in the Winnipeg area, and around the world. We’ve created this guide to help you plan your wedding!
Who are we?
We are Corey and Amanda Jonasson and we have been photographing weddings for over 10 years now! Corey got his start to photography shooting bands, and custom car and truck shows. With some pressure by a co-worker he was talked into shooting a wedding and quickly became obsessed with capturing couples engagements and weddings. Amanda got her start with some lessons from Corey in the field behind their house. She soon came along on engagement sessions and then weddings. She is now primarily into capturing super cute and adorable babies! You can look at her wonderful work here at www.babycojo.com
Where the heck do we start with planning our wedding?
We aren’t wedding planners, but we’ve been to a few weddings and can help you with some tips, we will also suggest some wedding planners below.
What time of year do you want to get married? This is probably a good first step to figure out. Once you’ve got that part nailed down you can head on to the next step.
What should we book first?
Wedding venue or Wedding Photographer? Thats a tough question, and im going to be a little biased and say you should pick your wedding photographer first and check their availability, then cross check the availability with your preferred wedding venues. Why do I suggest that? A wedding photographer is going to capture your day beautifully no matter where it is (at least a great experienced photographer will) So if you have a photographer that you really want to capture your day, its probably best to get in touch with them and the venue you want to see if they are both available. Don’t get me wrong, a great venue is really going to set the mood for your wedding day, but on the same note you will be spending more time with your wedding photographer than pretty much anyone else on your wedding day. You are trusting them to capture all the moments you are and aren’t aware of.
Do we need a wedding planner?
Hey, that whats up to you, a wedding can be stressful and there’s a lot of moving parts. If you are up for the challenge of doing it all on your own, then go for it. If you want someone with lots of experience, knows the ins and outs of the industry, and which vendors will take care of you the best, then heck yeah, get a wedding planner!

This day couldn’t have been any more perfect. Brynn and Braden were surrounded by so many family and friends, the weather was perfect, Ashgrove Acres was spectacular as always, heck they even had their two beautiful pup’s along for the wedding.
Brynn and Braden did a ‘no look - first look’ we had them back up to each other and hold hands and say a few words to one another before the ceremony. Super sweet!
The ceremony was wonderful and included both of their dog’s, as well as some cute little kiddos coming down the aisle. A slight mishap when KJBMom forgot the rings, but made for some good light hearted laughs. :)
We' had a lot of familiar faces at this wedding, you see we’d shot 5 different couples weddings that were all there. Amazing to be able to see so many at one time. After the ceremony we took off with the wedding party for some photo’s and the guests made their way to the outdoor patio for the cigar bar, outside bar serving up some great signature drinks and some live music playing too!
With the reception underway there was hilarious speeches, tons of laughs, great food, and a lively dance floor.
We snuck out with Brynn and Braden for some sweet sunset photos in the field. Once the sun went down there was a surprise in store for everyone. Brynn’s Dad had arranged for one of the most amazing fireworks displays we’d ever seen, it seemed to keep going and going! What a way to top off a beautiful day.

Holly and Ryan may have had to postpone their wedding, but it sure worked out in the end and turned out to be so perfect and beautiful. The wedding day was spent at Whitetail Meadow near Niverville, Mb. Such a beautiful venue with all kinds of great places for photo’s, and great folks that run the place too. Always so nice to be out there. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony, followed up with a fun cocktail hour and delicious dinner and reception.
Enjoy!
An absolute gorgeous day at Zara’s Garden with Marilyn and Kyle. I’d met these two a couple years ago at Marilyns Brothers wedding so it was a day of getting to see so many familiar faces and enjoying the company of lots of great people. It also meant another amazing speech from Marilyn’s Dad, he may not do the speech in english, but they did have someone to translate for him, and he’s great with the wedding speeches thats for sure. The sun was shining down on everyone for most of the day and the grounds at Zara’s Garden are just beautiful. As I always try to sneak couples out for sunset photo’s this one was something else! There was some big storm clouds on the way, and you could see the rain falling from them in the distance. It really made for some epic and beautiful photos! I get real excited about stuff like that and Marilyn and Kyle were into my energy and I could tell they were just as excited.
The dance floor was no disappointment either, all kinds of action out there and some of the dance moves from the guys were wild!
Time for you to take a look through the photo’s below, enjoy!
A wedding at the Rustic Wedding Barn was just perfect for Michelle and Johnny! These two and their wild wedding party were up for all kinds of fun, even if it was raining for most of the day. There was smiles, tears, lots of laughing, some singing and all kinds of good wedding day fun. I’d only met them the morning of the wedding, but it didn’t take long for everyone to be comfortable to just enjoying the day together. Take a few moments and give this one a scroll and check out all the photo’s from their day at The Rustic Wedding Barn in La Broquerie, Manitoba.
What a fantastic day for a wedding with Kairos and Jerricson.
They both got ready in their home with their family and friends, and then we headed off to Hawthorn Estates for their ceremony and reception. Hawthorn Estates was amazing as always, and we took some gorgeous photo’s around the grounds there. Kairos sister played violin, her dad officiated the ceremony and it was perfect.
Enjoy!
So you want to start your engagement shoot with some ice cream? That sounds great to me, I love ice cream!!
Headingly is a special place for Whitney and Ethan, so that is where we did their session. Lots of smiles and good laughs, and hey they even brought their super cute pup along with them!
We had ice cream, made our way over to the Headingly train bridge, and then out to Beaudry Provincial Park to catch that beautiful sunset!
Enjoy, and keep an eye out for their wedding on here soon!
Bailey and Payton! I met Payton a few years back at his brothers wedding. Im pretty sure I remember him tearing up the dancefloor, but I could be wrong :)
Here we are a few years later and he’s engaged to the beautiful Bailey! They were in town to visit family so we met up and captured their engagement photo’s as well as a family session. Always so great to see familiar faces.
With the forecast calling for rain all weekend Meaghan and Will had to very quickly change the plans for the wedding day just a couple days before. The wedding wasn’t supposed to be indoors, but hey, if you can pivot as quickly as these two did and plan a whole different day, then why not be safe!
It turns out the day ended up being absolutely perfect outside, the rain stayed away, and everyone still had a great time!
Meaghan and Will’s wedding was at the St. Norbert Monastery Ruins, and St Norbert Arts Centre. It was beautiful, and intimate, and all kinds of fun! Take a couple minutes and scroll through the photo’s below!
